This week I found myself just wanting to read...
In the mist of reading all my new and old books,
I found myself especially moved by a book I've been meaning to read..
A book called "Gaia Calling" by Kim Bold...

For such a little book with short chapters,
I found myself reflecting so much that it took me days to read it...
What a Magical Book...The history of the human species told through
the lives of earth's other creatures....
Each chapter stirred such emotions that I'm moved to write to you about it...

Chapter 1: Beaver  - Why? Why says the Wise One....Why build dams?
                Because that's what Beavers do...
Why are we impelled to write songs?
                Because that's what writers do.....

Chapter 2: Walrus -  Most unpredictable..I thought the story would end differently.
The Walrus would save the herd with his vocal skills...
Instead he came full circle in a most humble way...

Chapter 3: Lynx  - "Crossing the river of the subconscious mind"
Things get better when reach the limit of your abilities....

Chapter 4: Giraffe - "daily pursuits" Team work, "many colors of thought",
"look into their eyes (Wildebeests) to find your own humorous
shortcomings and then you will no longer need to run with the wildebeests"..
"Coordinating your movements with your thoughts".
Many hidden messages in this one...

Chapter 5: Panda  - "His high pitched cry pierced the plants and all of nature"..
The process of learning and growing......Mother Earth's Aid...

Chapter 6: Toucan  - The Sloth was most intriguing.."Because my thoughts are so
deeply rooted in spiritual matters, my body serves as an earthly portal for the
                light of the spirit"...Wow.....
"Ethereal instrument...The darker side of liberty/justice...

Chapter 7: Badger  - 'Animal Planet' had a recent episode on some badgers,
so this was especially meaningful...  "tunnel creations"...
The Fox was most interesting...His tail is his rudder...
Hit home, I've been the Fox many many times over....
I guess I need to find my "dancing tree"...

In summary, the 1st and last chapters, The Beaver and The Badger,
hit closest to home...all the current nerves were touched...
I sure have a lot to learn...
The interconnectiveness of the animals in the stories, each stirring the thoughts
and deeds of the the main character kept the stories moving...
Thanks for the ride.....

Peace and May 2007 be a good year for you....

Animal Symbology

The elements of nature hold symbolic messages for everyone, but with deeper reflection, you will find a story that's tailored just for you. Here are my Spirit Animals as I experienced them personally.

Beaver: Builder of Dreams
Beaver showed me how to accept my dreams, rather than run from them. Beaver also gave me the determination to bring those dreams to fruition, despite the storms I was sure to encounter. And most importantly, Beaver showed me that I couldn't build the dam of my dreams alone. I had to learn how to ask for assistance.

Walrus: Gatherer of Souls
Walrus explained why I often have that feeling of "not belonging". Most of my life, I've struggled with the need to be accepted by others. But acceptance begins with an acknowledgement of our individual differences. Remembering who we are is the first step in remembering why we are. When we truly listen to our inner voice, others will gather around us in total acceptance.

Lynx: Seeker of Hidden Knowledge

Lynx gave me the courage to explore my inner abilities. Whenever I have difficulty navigating my way through problems, I can go inside myself to visualize a more clear path. Lynx explained that the other side of life isn't really that mysterious. The only mystery to behold once we get to the other side is the awareness of our own thoughts and how they reflect the images of ourselves.

Giraffe: Independent Thinker

Giraffe confirmed what I already knew about myself....my thoughts are different from others. But this trait can only be a blessing if I carefully maintain a balance between my mind and my movements. Acting upon my higher thoughts is the only way I can fulfill my destiny. And my vision is only as clear as my ability to see that everyone I encounter has something valuable to offer me.

Panda: Creature of Compassion
Panda's lesson was about releasing resentments. The choices that others make in their lives don't have to affect us forever. Within us is the essence of every perfect relationship, including our familial ones. When we no longer have the need to criticize or judge others, we suddenly have more energy. And thus we can create our own special family tree by nourishing the roots with love for ourselves.

Toucan: Bird of Unity

Toucan taught me that the conflicts of this world are nothing more than a reflection of my own inner conflicts. Not making a decision is worse than making a wrong decision. If I carefully contemplate both sides of an issue, I can discern the best choices for me. But I can only achieve this outcome by consciously drawing closer to Creator. Sharing our gifts is the foundation for true inner peace.

Badger: The Storytelling Healer
Badger was the most difficult lesson of all. Swiftly delving into the inner realms is only beneficial when we maintain a connection to others. The creative process draws us deeply into our subconscious minds and long periods of inner reflection must be countered with human contact. Knowing Mother Earth as a grounding force while seeking the wisdom of Father Sky has helped me to gain more knowledge of my own stories. Our gifts were primarily meant to benefit others as well as heal ourselves.

Online Diary

This is the first entry into my online diary.  I will try to post some of my own personal experiences with Gaia, in addition to my stories and music, so that others may share their own awareness.

I'll begin with my recent trip to Arkansas and the crystal mines where my family found many wonderful pieces of quartz crystals.  A woman there explained some of the healing aspects of the crystals and that night I had an interesting dream.  After learning about how two pieces of crystals, male and female, are linked together as "Siamese twins", my dream revealed more on this subject.  These crystals eventually grow together and become one formation.  They have an incredible healing power.  My dream revealed a "place" called Siamese where I would not only find healing, but true peace.  You can discern what you will from this dream, but these crystals are beautiful as well as mesmerizing.
